US businessman undergoes spine surgery in Ahmedabad India

US-based Robert Eugene Massa, also known as Bob Massa, underwent a Cervical Spine Surgery at Sterling Hospital, five weeks ago. Before coming to Ahmedabad for the surgery, Bob, 56, was in severe condition before this operation and had failed all the attempts to get fit again. He consulted many spine specialists in his hometown. Later, he decided to opt for treatments from Ahmedabad-based Spine Surgeon Dr Subir Jhaveri of Sterling Hospital.
“Few months ago, my daughter also underwent a spinal surgery from the same hospital, that’s how I decided to be operated here,” said Bob, who runs an IT company under the name of Searchking Technolab in the city. However, cost of the operation in Ahmedabad is very less as compared to US, he added.
Bob, who suffered from Cervical Myelopathy — a disorder that occurs due to spondylosis with resultant cord compression, had to undergo two spine surgeries — Artificial Disc Replacement and Fusion Procedures on upper spine. The operation lasted for 3.5 hours. Bob said he is “a happy man now”.
